Major Functions

  • In order to promote Community living and provide safe and secure environments, Askari Colonies are established by Housing Directorate for retired Army Officers. These Colonies are either being maintained by Housing Directorate or Station Headquarters / Cantonment Boards
  • Askari Colonies (constructed on A1 Land) on completion are handed over to Station Headquarters / Cantonment Boards which function under Resident Executive Committees (RECs) and pay regular property / conservancy taxes to Cantonment Boards as per existing Government rules and their routine maintenance rests with Cantonment Boards

Housing Directorate Administered Colonies

Number of Askari Colonies being managed by Housing Directorate in a befitting manner to ensure provision of:-

  • Municipality Functions and Community Services
  • Janitorial & Waste Disposal Management
  • Adequate Security Measures
  • Horticulture / Maintenance of Parks
  • Maintenance Services to Residents and Smooth management
  • Implementation of Housing Directorate Bylaws and curb encroachments


Other Functions

  • Processing of Lease / Transfer / NOC cases of all Askari Colonies
  • Management of Commercial Projects and Renting out of Shops
  • Conflict Resolution of Residents
  • Nomination of RCCs / RECs and interaction with RCCs / RECs and residents
  • Liaison with Garrison / Station Headquarters, Cantonment Boards & Law Enforcing Agencies

Provision of Civic Amenities

  • Maintenance of Mosques
  • Community Centers / Clubs / Libraries / Gymnasium & Play Grounds
  • Shopping Complexes
  • Sports Facilities / Families & Children Parks
  • Askari Schools / Colleges
  • Banks / ATMs / Post Offices
  • Filtration Plants
